Software Developer & Website Designer
I am a motivated Software Developer working in an agile environment to create responsive, cross platform applications. My attitude towards the work I undertake is energetic, innovative and above all else professional.
In addition to my role at Barclays I have recently began a family venture called Ramo Dynamics Digital Solutions. Here I am able to expand my knowledge of front end coding and continue to develop my passion from digital design.
After working at Barclays as a contractor for over 2 years I moved to a full time role with the MCA team within the bank. My roles remain the same as before however room to grow my skills within the bank offer a great opportunity to specialise in software development.
As a Developer at Barclays I have worked on a variety of applications used throughout the bank. A recent transition to Agile methodology has resulted in me focusing solely on one application. I use frameworks and technologies such as Eclipse, Spring, Stash, & Git. I support the team by writing clear, understandable code using Test Driven Development to help maintain code quality. I have learnt a lot since joining Barclays and hope my skills continue to develop into the future.
FDM is a consultancy group that offer industry standard training in Java application development. They also offer the opportunity to work for some of the biggest companies both within the UK and the rest of the world. This was my first role after leaving university and while training I was able to secure a contract at one of FDM’s biggest clients, Barclays Bank Plc.
The degree I studied at Liverpool John Moores University was primarily focused on two programming languages. Flash (ActionScript) & Visual Basic. Although throughout the course I learned a lot about these two languages I was more intrigued by the Java, Photoshop and Web Design modules. I was able to apply my knowledge acquired at university to design some simplistic Android applications and some basic websites. This lead me to WordPress and the possibilities of designing dynamic websites.
Over the last few years I’ve enhanced my skills in several key areas. Some skills are part of my day to day work, some are skills I’ve developed over time due to an interest in the topic. I continue to develop my knowledge each day and enhance my enthusiasm towards the industry.
Some of my key skill are listed below.
RamoDynamics is a limited business that provides digital solutions to small business throughout the UK. I built the website with ease of access in mind. Social media colour schemes are used throughout to give a sense of familiarity especially considering one of the services is Social Media Management. Overall the website is pleasing to the eye and offers the visitor a method of contact via the ‘Get In Touch’ contact form.
BestBikeGuide is a website that offers reviews and ratings for a variety of pedal bikes. From road bikes through to vintage bikes BestBikeGuide wanted the ability to list popular bikes and offer direct links to amazon in order simplify the purchasing journey for the customer and potentially gain an affiliate revenue in the process. The website owner also wanted an area of the website to display useful articles and videos relating to pedal bikes and their maintenance. I was able to achieve this by creating a custom website using WordPress as a framework. Now the site has been running since 2016 and still going strong.
Achieve Perfect Health is a blog posting website where the publishers wanted to create a hub for fat burning, healthy eating promoting articles to assist visitors in their search for information or motivation. The website needed to have the ability to repost other blogs from the internet (showing referencing links to the original posts), video articles and training courses if and when available. We decided to use a bright, positive colour scheme to capture the visitors attention and promote a sense of happiness throughout the website, after all exercise and healthy living is fun (sometimes).
Similar to BestBikeGuide, VeganShopOnline wanted to offer a centralised location where visitors can gain expert knowledge on the subject of vegan products available that are highly reviewed, rated and reputable. I spoke to my client about the design he had in mind and we arrived at a minimalistic theme with white, green and grey being the main colours of choice. The final site is elegant, minimal however looks great on desktops and mobiles alike. I’m very happy with the way this site turned out and so was the client.
